Clear ProAV was honored to be invited to contribute to the iconic Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum in Dallas, Texas. In partnership with Cinemark, we were tasked with developing a complex AV design that would allow the museum’s theater to operate both as a standalone cinema and as a fully functional venue for live events and productions.
One of the primary design challenges involved sight line constraints. The main Barco-driven projection screen could not be altered or reduced in size, which limited equipment placement and available AV solutions. In addition, the entire audio, video, and lighting (AVL) systems needed to be intuitive and user-friendly, as events are often hosted without dedicated on-site technical staff.
To address these challenges, we implemented a supplemental infrastructure built around isolated core audio, video, and theatrical lighting systems. In alignment with Cinemark’s use of Harman Professional products—including JBL and Crown—we designed a complementary JBL column array loudspeaker system mounted on the side walls, ensuring unobstructed sight lines. Multiple dual 18” subwoofers were installed behind the projection screen to deliver impactful low-frequency sound without visual interference.
The system is operated through multiple Extron touchscreen interfaces, providing streamlined control for non-technical users. Multiple inputs located on and off stage support front-of-house (FoH) setups, including an Allen & Heath Dante-enabled digital mixing console for larger productions.
The theater’s lighting system features two theatrical light bars with ETC ellipsoidal fixtures, which can be controlled via a dedicated lighting console or through the touchscreen interfaces. For video capture and streaming, we integrated multiple Panasonic broadcast-grade PTZ cameras connected to a dedicated control room—enabling live Zoom calls to be simulcasted to and from the theater.
A secondary 240” Da-Lite motorized projection screen, paired with a 21,000-lumen Digital Projection laser projector, adds visual flexibility for a variety of presentation formats.
To round out the system, multiple channels of Sennheiser wireless microphones provide crystal-clear audio and can be managed via the FoH console or touchscreen controls—empowering museum staff to confidently support events with minimal technical overhead.
